by her grandmother, Nancy / Nancey Fox, born 1813 or 1814.
According to the 1880 census of Fannin County, GA,
Nancy Fox was 66 yearsold, a widow and a farmer.
She was head of the household and was originally from NC.
In her household at that time were:

Lucinda Fox - gr. daughter, 14 yrs. old, born in GA

Lucinda's "Cindy" mother supposedly died either giving birth to Cindy
or when Cindy was just a baby.
Nancy Fox (grandmother) was possibly married to George W. Fox,
found in the 1870 census of Gilmer County, GA. If this is
the correct Nancy, her maiden name was Mathis and she was from
Macon County, NC.

NEW INFORMATION SUBMITTED TO ME BY SHARON CARROLL STANLEY, GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER OF LUCINDA FOX.
John A. Fox and Martha M. Aaron were Lucinda "Cindy's" parents. John A. Fox is of Cherokee descent. This is the source of our Cherokee heritage and was always told that he was full blooded Cherokee. I will begin trying to trace his lineage, now that I have his name and his parents' names.
John A. Fox & Martha M. Aaron were married Oct. 1, 1863 in Bedford, Tenn. I found a copy of their marriage license which is pictured on the documents page.
Martha died in 1882 at abt. age 37, possibly from pnuemonia. Martha is of Welsh, Irish & German descent.
John A. Fox's parents were: George W. Fox and Nancy Mathis Fox.
George and Nancy were the ones I found listed in Gilmer Co. in the 1870 census. I was correct afterall.
Martha M. Aarnon's parents were: William H. Aarnon and Delilah Warner Aarnon.
